At present Google is saying two long-term buy agreements to assist scale biochar as a carbon removing answer. We’re partnering with Varaha and Appeal to buy 100,000 tons of biochar carbon removing from every firm by 2030. These are the most important biochar carbon removing offers thus far.
These offers will allow 200,000 tons of carbon removing to assist Google obtain our internet zero emissions aim — and assist catalyze biochar manufacturing towards a scale that may assist the planet mitigate local weather change.
With these partnerships with Varaha and Appeal, we’re including biochar to a rising toolkit of carbon removing options Google helps (comparable to enhanced rock weathering and direct air seize), and as a complement to our ongoing efforts to kickstart the carbon removing subject via Frontier and Symbiosis.
