On April 14, 1912, the Titanic hit an iceberg and later sank. Dean, her mom, and 2-year-old brother survived, however her father died with the various different third-class males who weren’t allowed on lifeboats.

In accordance with Dean, her father felt the ship collide with the iceberg, which could have saved his household’s lives.
“I feel it was my father who saved us,” Dean stated in 2002, in accordance with the Los Angeles Instances. “So many different folks thought the Titanic would by no means sink, and so they did not hassle. My father did not take an opportunity.”
Dean, her mom, and brother had been placed on lifeboat 13, as reported by BBC Information.
