Notoriously rancid dialogue board 4chan has not responded to a request from Ofcom (the UK telecoms regulator) for particulars on how it’s defending customers from unlawful content material.
So, now Ofcom is opening an investigation into 4chan underneath the On-line Security Act.
If Ofcom finds 4chan at fault, it could possibly impose fines of as much as £18 million or 10% of qualifying worldwide income (whichever is bigger). It may even require ISPs to dam entry to 4chan within the UK.
Let’s be trustworthy — if Ofcom does pull the plug, I doubt many tears might be shed. No less than not by anybody who wasn’t already banned from Reddit.
